Shooters which are played mostly from a top-down perspective, and on foot. Gameplay involves walking around and - as the name suggests - shooting everything in sight. This subgenre includes obvious "Military" titles like Metal Gear and Commando, as well as games that stretch the subgenre's definition a bit like Jurassic Park and Gauntlet. This subgenre also includes action games with a strong resemblance to military sims (Gunboat for example).
