Piquin is a neat and unique game from Ancil Anthropy, a game designer who kindly made this game open source as well as freeware. If you think you have seen and played every kind of Pac-Man clone, Piquin will surprise you with its original concept and delight you with its novel gameplay. Piquin is essentially a "turn-based" kind of Pac-Man: your goal is still to clear the mazes of dots and avoid the ghosts, but now everything moves one square at a time. Thus planning and strategy become essential elements of gameplay. Too bad the designer did not take this concept further – a combination with the gameplay of DrRoboWhoids would have made the game more challenging and interesting – but as it stands, Piquin is still entertaining enough to hold your interest, whether or not you are a die-hard fan of Pac-Man. The game comes with only four levels, but hopefully with its open-source nature, we will see more levels and enhanced gameplay in the future. Recommended!
