Capitalist Pig is one of the most fun - and the most obscure - business simulations released in the early 1990s. In this innovative game that foreshadows Capitalism Plus years later, your job is to start a company from scratch and build it to a conglomerate.

The game is more focused on the operational level of running a business, similar to Free Enterpri$e, than the strategic level of Capitalism Plus. The first thing you need to do is fill an empty building space with various departments: administration, marketing, and so on. Then, hire employees, launch the products, and watch the cash roll in. Of course, like real life, things do not always go as planned, and there are many random events to keep things interesting. These events range from macroeconomic news and world events, to company-specific accidents like a break-in and fire (for which you can buy insurance). You will also face the risk of embezzlements by employees you thought were worthy, grueling tax audits, and even terrorist attacks. One of the nicest touches are the historically accurate world events from 1901 and 1991 that are built into the model. Colorful animation, crisp cartoony graphics, and realistic sound effects add to the fun. The mouse-driven interface is also a breeze to learn, and the difficulty is about right. Definitely one of the most underrated games of its kind, Capitalist Pig is recommended to all business game enthusiasts. Two thumbs up!
