Small US-based developer and publisher, Merit published a number of games that range from surprisingly good (e.g. Maelstrom) to horrendous (e.g. Isle of The Dead *shudder*). Not surprisingly, after huge losses in the games business, the company decided to transform itself into an Internet-only publishing house (similar to what Interactive Magic had done earlier).
