A simple arcade motorboat racing game, Offshore Warrior nevertheless offers a lot of gameplay despite 4-color CGA graphics. Your goal is simple: compete in a motorboat tournament that spans the globe. While the tracks, which range from North Canada to Australia, look almost identical, they differ in length and difficulty. |
Although the graphics is crisp (for CGA) and the controls are intuitive, Offshore Warrior doens't offer many options. There is a few tracks, the obstacles are repetitive, and you can't even choose a boat to compete in. This makes the game more similar to, say, the arcade sequence in Sierra's Space Quest 1, than full-fledged boat racing simulations like Accolade's Heat Wave. The game's appeal is therefore limited to the action crowd, or die-hard fans of the sport.
