The Perfect General 1 rocketed QQP to fame when it was released in 1990. The game offers a complete player history, an elaborate scoring system, and good AI. The Perfect General 2 ups the ante with VGA graphics, modem play, excellent phased action, and better AI. Arguably the best game QQP ever produced, PG2 sadly didn't garner much acclaim, perhaps due to the release of SSI's ground-breaking Panzer General in the same year (1994). Two abstract wargames at its best! Note: In 2002, Killer Bee Software announced the acquisition of the copyrights and source code to both Empire Deluxe and The Perfect General from Mark Baldwin and Bob Rakosky, formerly of White Wolf Productions. Look out for the new versions of both games sometime in 2003! Reviewed by: Underdogs |
