Jetz Fusion is the latest and best Jetz game in a long-run series of freeware action games from Shawn Noel, a talented designer known in the freeware circles as "Shawn64". The game is a beat 'em up similar to Little Fighter 2, except that you can fly around the screens with your jetpack, and there is a storyline. You make progress by finishing increasingly tougher missions while collecting new weapons and power-ups. Similar to Little Fighter 2, this underdog boasts smooth animations and frenetic action. The mission-based approach adds variety to the game. Better still: you always have multiple missions to choose from, with different objectives that require you to thoroughly explore the cities. There are 10 weapons in the game, but you can add many more and create your own – thanks to the very innovative "weapons editor" program – to add to over thirty fanmade weapons you can download from the game's official page. The game is not all brawn, either: you will often be surrounded by so many cops that you need to focus more on avoiding them than on killing them. While most objects in each city are destructible, it is better to minimize unnecessary destruction and focus your energy instead on various enemies on the screen. To top it all off, there is a fun, albeit limited, deathmatch mode where you can fight another human player with four weapons. If you enjoy fun beat 'em ups, Jetz Fusion is well worth your time. The game is difficult, meaning it will take expert players quite a while to finish, but the frenetic action and mission variety will keep you glued to the screen. Two thumbs up, way up!
