Commando Enhanced is an excellent remake of Commando, Data East's classic shoot 'em up. The game is in turn a remake of Commando 32K, a smaller remake created for the Mekka 32k competition. Similar to the original classic, the goal is simple: make your way through all the levels. Nothing more, nothing less. In addition to featuring better graphics than the original 4-color CGA palette, Commando Enhanced also adds a lot of new gameplay elements, including new enemy types, the ability to pick up and use grenades and radio to call in surgical air strikes, body armor, and many more special items. The controls are intuitive, and the gameplay is very fluid. If you like the original or military shooters in general, you will no doubt enjoy this top-notch remake of a timeless classic. Two thumbs up!
