This is the enhanced 1992 CD-ROM version of Sierra's classic children's game Mixed-Up Mother Goose. Read my review of the game for description of gameplay, for it remains the same in this version, except the game is now even easier to play and much prettier to look at.

In addition to crisp, 256-color VGA graphics, Mother Goose Enhanced adds excellent music, digitized speech, and several gameplay features. Some of the best additions is the gameworld map, which kids can use to instantly warp to any location they have previously visited, as well as the autosave function. Sierra did release one more remake of the game in 1996, entitled Mixed-Up Mother Goose Deluxe, which doesn’t offer as much improvement from the 1992 version as from 1987 to 1992, although the free bonus soundtrack CD is very nice. In short, if you’re looking for a game to keep your toddlers mesmerized in front of a computer, or if you want to reacquaint yourself with nursery rhymes again, you can’t go wrong with Mixed-Up Mother Goose Enhanced, one of the best kid’s titles ever made. Two thumbs up!

Note: This version includes music, but not digitized speech. Of historical interest is the fact that this was Sierra’s first CD-ROM game, and one of the very first games ever made specifically for CD-ROM distribution, although the whole game is only a few dozen megabytes long (most CD-ROM titles at the time were simply re-releases of floppy titles, with no enhancements). Unfortunately, all three Mother Goose games have been discontinued, and Sierra has no plans of making more (or even continuing to produce titles for kids).
