Electronic Arts
Electronic Arts   #57

Games developed: 39
Games published: 129
Period: 1983 - 2002

Arguably the most successful PC game company in existence today, Electronic Arts was established in 1982 by Trip Hawkins, first under the name of Amazin' Software. Electronic Arts's in-house development team churned out spades of excellent Hall of Fame material, such as Dani Bunten's M.U.L.E.. The company was also an instrumental springboard to young companies such as LucasFilm (now LucasArts) and Interplay, who are now famous publishers on their own.

Trip Hawkins later left the company in early 1990s to form 3D0, although he retains a substantial shareholding in his old company. Electronic Arts now distributes for such powerhouse game developers as Origin, Westwood, EA Sports, Jane's Combat Simulations, Bullfrog and Maxis. For a detailed company history and highlights of their games, visit this page at The Dot Eaters.

Related companies: Origin Systems, Bullfrog, Westwood Studios, Maxis, New World Computing, LucasFilm Games, Mythos Software, Ozark Softscape, Dynamix, Games Workshop, Stormfront Studios, Sandcastle, Firaxis, Distinctive Software, Kingsoft, and just about every other small game developer on Earth [EG].
